READ ALOUD AMERICA TO SPEAK AT ROTARY CLUB OF LAHAINA SUNSET
Joanne and Larry Laird, co-directors of Read Aloud America, will present information about the Read Aloud America Program at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
Read Aloud America (RAA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting literacy and helping families bond through the fun of reading and being read to. During the past 17 years, RAA has served over 338,00 adults and children at 90 public schools in Hawai`i. RAA is presenting programs once a month at Hana School and is being sponsored by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers and businesses such as Pepsi Cola and Savers for the Hana programs. RAA will also be offering programs to additional Maui County schools as a result of being the recipient of funding from the State of Hawai`i Grant In Aid program. A program is set for Princess Nahienaeha School to begin in February, 2017. The Lairds will explain details of RAA programs and how Rotary and community members can volunteer.
